Rs 1.73cr sanctioned to upgrade 12 institutions

Bhubaneswar: The state Higher Education department has sanctioned Rs 1.73 crore for the development of 11 colleges and one university across Odisha under the ‘Ama Gourav Ama College’ scheme, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and academic facilities in higher educational institutions.

Among the institutions set to benefit from the initiative are Ravenshaw University, Agalpur Panchayat Samiti (Degree) College, Bijepur (Degree) College, Salipur (Autonomous) College, Biren Mitra Memorial Women’s (Degree) College, Panchayat Degree College, Kalla, Hindol (Degree) College, Mahima Degree College, Belaguntha Science Degree College, Naktideul Degree College, Government Autonomous College, Phulbani, and Jasoda Bishnu College.

The sanctioned funds will be utilised for a range of development projects, including strengthening library resources, construction and upgradation of laboratories, development of sports and academic complexes, installation of Wi-Fi connectivity, and enhancement of campus security through CCTV surveillance systems.

Officials said the initiative is part of the state government’s continued efforts to modernise higher education infrastructure and provide improved learning environments for students.
