Construction will begin once it gets cleared. However, land on which the project will come up is under encroachment,” a committee member said. The required budget has been sanctioned jointly by the Union Railways ministry and tourism ministry, sources said.

Delang: Agriculture minister Pradeep Maharathy inaugurated a lift irrigation project at Nuapatna. The project was built with an aid of `11.75 lakh from NABARD. The project would aid several farmers struggling to irrigate their land, Maharathy said. The farmers will bear the expenses arising out of irrigation and power supply. Maharathy meanwhile assured local youths of financial assistance from the government for entrepreneur projects. Pani Panchayat head Sukant Parida said the government has set a target to provide irrigation facility to 15 acres of land every year.
Two held for fraud
Cuttack: Markatnagar police arrested two persons for duping investors by promising them land. The accused, identified as Sibadutt Nayak of Dargha Bazaar and Anand Sahu of Tulsipur, had opened a chit fund firm called Tripuri Enterprisers in CDA Sector-6 and had swindled over Rs 1 crore from depositors in the guise of giving them land, between 2012 and 2013. The investors filed a complaint with Markatnagar police after Nayak and Sahu went back on their word. Sahu and Nayak fled when depositors went to their office seeking refunds. A team led by Markatnagar inspector MK Senapati arrested Nayak and Sahu in a raid late Saturday night. One of the accused is the son of a renowned jeweller, said the inspector.
