Paradip: In another incident of daylight robbery, three bike-borne miscreants opened fire and looted Rs 7 lakh from the cash van of a private company CMS (Cash Management Services) near IFFCO Square in Paradip Friday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when three guards of the company were transporting the cash to upload it in an ATM in the afternoon. Three miscreants intercepted the van near IFFCO Square and opened fire at the guards before decamping with Rs 7 lakh.
One of the guards, Sanjay Das of Purudi village under Tirtol police limits, sustained bullet injury. He was rushed to the Paradip Port Trust Hospital. After preliminary treatment, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
Police reached the spot and launched a probe. A manhunt has been launched to nab the miscreants, police said.
