Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: A two-day International Fest for Children’s Literature was inaugurated at KIIT International School in the city Thursday.
A host of writers, most notable among them the legendary children’s writer Ruskin Bond who was the chief guest, were in attendance.
A Sahitya Akademi Award recipient for his 1992 book Our Trees Still Grow in Dehra, Ruskin Bond is recognised as a master-storyteller and has also been bestowed with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan among several other honours.
More than 100 students participated in various competitions such as storytelling, story-writing, essay, debates and drawing competition on the first day.
Notable individuals such as Ajit Narayana, the inventor of Awaz, India’s first augmentative and alternative communication device for children with disabilities, was among those present along with writer-cum-journalist Jerry Pinto, novelist Chandrahas Choudhury and author Vanita Zutshi.
