Bhubaneswar, May 18: WFM Rutumbara Bidhar of Khurda and Smaraki Mohanty of KIIT are sharing the top spot in the U-17 girls’ category, with four points each after the completion of the fourth round of the IIIrd Srusti Chess Festival here Monday. Eight players are in joint second position with three points each.
In a fourth round match, third seed Smaraki created an upset by stunning top seed Sunyasakta Satpathy. Second-seeded Rutumbara got the better of fifth seed Anisha Mishra.
In the U-17 open category, Rudraksh Parida and Sambit Panda (both Khurda) and Ansuman Samal of Cuttack are sharing the top spot with four points each. In the fourth round, top seed Ansuman prevailed over Sankalp Baliarsingh while seventh seed Sambit defeated Nilsu Pattnaik and fourth seed Rudraksh outwitted Padilam Yeshwant.
In the U-7 girls’, Anjali Mishra of Khurda emerged as the sole leader with four points. Fifth seed Anjali defeated Divyashrita Swain of Cuttack. Top seed Divyasha Acharya of Cuttack overcame Arushi Srichandan of Khurda easily.
In the open category, Priyansh Das and Sriyansh Das (both Jajpur) emerged as joint leaders after completion of the fourth round. Second seed Priyansh prevailed over Annirudha Sahoo of Cuttack, while Sriyansh checkmated Sagnik Ghosh.
