A disheartening video is going viral from Hyderabad, where a deliveryman fell into a drain during heavy rains. The incident took place when Syed Farhan, who works for a food delivery company, went out to deliver orders in the city.
According to reports, Farhan was on his bike in the rain when he suddenly fell into an open drain on the road. In this accident, his mobile phone was washed away in the drain, and his bike was also damaged.
This incident has raised serious questions about the safety of gig workers. The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union expressed concern over the accident and demanded an answer from the company on what steps are taken to ensure the safety of its employees in such situations. The union asked, “Is the life of a delivery worker worth just a Rs 10 or 15 rain bonus?”

The union also said that instead of focusing only on delivering orders, companies should make concrete arrangements for the safety of their employees. Conditions such as open drains, poor roads, and waterlogging during rains can prove fatal for delivery workers.
This accident involving Farhan has also become a topic of discussion on social media, where people are questioning why companies do not pay attention to the safety of their workers, along with making profits. Many have also said that the government and the municipal corporation should cover such open drains and make proper safety arrangements during the rainy season so that such incidents can be avoided in the future.
