Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: SAI Hostel, Cuttack emerged champions of the Jadupur Cup football tournament, which concluded here Thursday.
SAI blanked Friends paradise, Jatani 2-0 in the lop-sided summit clash to clinch the title.
SAI dominated the match from the start, scoring one goal each in both the halves. Saswat Swain opened the account as early as in the eighth minute.
The Jatani players several attempts at breaching the SAI defense never succeeded, even as they kept on constantly trying for a goal till the last minute of the match.
In the second half, SAI were more opportunistic as man of the match Rajesh Nayak found the back of the net in the 55th minute to seal the issue in their favour. SK Kamal of the winning team bagged the man of the series award.
The champions bagged Rs 15,000 and the winners’ trophy, while the runners-up took home Rs 10,000 along with a trophy.
