Sainik School sets up KISS date

Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: Sainik School entered the final of the Inter-School MCL Cup football tournament after pipping Vikash Residential School 1-0 in the second semifinal at the Unit-VI HS Ground here Wednesday. Sainik will meet defending champions KISS in the final, Saturday.
It was an exciting affair with both teams adopting aggressive measures. However Sainik School were the more opportunistic of the two sides as the game progressed. Raj Balmiki scored the all-important goal of the match in the second half to ensure victory for his team.
Vikash School players had a couple of opportunities in the second session, but they failed to cash in on them. Raj was adjudged the man of the match for his excellent
soccer skills.
Bir Birsa win
Bir Birsa Youth Club thrashed City Club 3-0 in a Group A match of the Gati Krushna Memorial football tournament at the Unit-I Boys’ HS Ground here Wednesday.
Bir Birsa dominated the match from the start. Prince Majhi broke the deadlock after 30 minutes. Papu Naik doubled the lead after seven minutes and Bir Birsa went into the lemon break with a 2-0 lead
After the change of ends, City Club tried to make a comeback into the game by playing aggressively. But Purosatam Naik of Bir Birsa struck in the 72nd minute to seal the fate of the match in their favour.
