Sambalpur: Officials and employees of Sambalpur railway division were cock-a-hoop as the unit was announced the best performing railway division in the country.
According to Indian Railways, Sambalpur has topped the list of railway divisions across the country in key performance metrics, leaving behind 68 others.
In the new gradation system implemented by Indian Railways to measure the performance of various railway units, Sambalpur has secured 73.02 marks out of 80 in the month of August. Ratlam and Guntukal divisions have come second and third with 73.01 and 72.05 marks respectively.
Every month a survey is carried out in all the 68 divisions to evaluate their position. Sambalpur performed well in 58 categories like safety and service to passengers, collection of revenue, punctuality and discipline of employees and officials, cleanliness etc enabling it to get the coveted position.
Sambalpur division had been on third rank between April and June. In the month of July, its position plummeted to fourth position. However, it braced itself up and performed well in the month of August and has come out triumphant.
Division manager Jayadeep Gupta has given credit to the officials and employees. “It was their untiring effort that earned this recognition for Sambalpur division,” he said.
