Sanjeeban shares top spot

Bhubaneswar: Sanjeeban Nayak of Orissa is sharing the top spot along with six others with four points after the completion of the fourth round in the B category of the Xth KIIT International Chess Festival here Saturday. Punit Indora of Haryana, Chetan Sharma of Andhra Pradesh, Sandip Dey of West Bengal, Ashutosh Bannerjee of Chhattisgarh, Bhagyashree Patil of Maharashtra and Leeladhar Kachroo of Haryana are the other players sharing the lead.
Eight Orissa players are sharing the joint second spot along with 17 others with 3.5 points each. They are Satopanth Gourav Nayak, Kumud Kumar Nath, Sudhir Kumar Behera, Susanta Kumar Sarangi, Binayak Rath, Rabindra Kumar Ojha, Prasanna Kumar Nayak and Priyanka Routray.
Sanjeeban scripted a convincing victory over D Neha Srinibash of Tamil Nadu. Satopanth got the better of Souhardo Basak of West Bengal, while Kumud forced statemate Prasanna to share points with him. Sudhir defeated M Tulasi Ram Kumar of Andhra Pradesh and Susanta prevailed over Shuvam Roy of West Bengal. Binayak beat E Balachandar of Tamil Nadu and Rabindra checkmated statemate Dinesh Kumar Behera. Prasanna played out a stalemate with statemate Kumud and Priyanka defeated Tapan Badamundi of Orissa.
