New Delhi: The Supreme Court (SC) will Tuesday hear a petition seeking reforms in Puri Srimandir for better management of affairs, including hassle-free darshan by devotees, at the shrine.
The matter will be heard by a three-judge bench of the apex court comprising Justices Arun Mishra, BR Gavai and MR Shah.
The bench would initiate hearing on the original petition filed Mrinalini Padhi and also on the issue of eviction drive by the state government around Srimandir.
Earlier, the SC had asked the amicus curiae, Ranjit Kumar, and Solicitor General Tusar Mehta to visit Puri and submit a report on the eviction drive of the state government. Both senior counsels had visited Puri and are likely to submit the report in the court Tuesday.
Significantly, the court had earlier also asked the amicus curiae to visit the temple and submit a report regarding the reforms to be taken up there for better management of affairs. The amicus curiae had submitted the report in the court but the hearing has not been started on the report filed by the amicus and senior counsel Priya Hingorani.
The court would hear both issues Tuesday.
