SCAO exposure for state climbers

SCAO officials address the media in Bhubaneswar, Friday   

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to provide training and encouragement to the aspiring climbers of the state Sports Climbing Association of Odisha (SCAO) and Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) will jointly organise a two-day training camp at the Sports Climbing Complex in the Kalinga Stadium here June 21-22.

“National level coaches and officials of IMF East Zone Committee will impart training to the aspiring and budding climbers of the state,” stated SCAO president Hari Prasad Patnaik in a press conference at the Utkal Karate School here Friday.

SCAO will also organise the IInd Sports Climbing Championship, June 23-24. Interested climbers should contact Utkal Karate School immediately.

AIFF scouting

Scouts of All India Football Federation (AIFF) started the selection trial for its various age category national teams at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Friday. Two hundred boys and 70 girls from all the districts of the state participated in this selection trial. Vikram Nanvadekar and Floyd Pinto conducted the camp.

Kho-Kho tourney

Athgarh Kho Kho Association will organise the Senior Men’s and Women’s Kho-Kho Championships at Athgarh, June 14-17. Teams from 30 districts of Orissa will participate in the tournament.

Trial camp

Odisha Kho Kho Association will organise a trial camp in October. Twenty men’s and women’s players each will participate in the camp. Based on the performances in the camp state teams for the 52nd National Sub-Junior Kho Kho Championships will be selected.

Chess tourney

Seventeen players are sharing the joint top spot with two points each after the completion of the second round in the Open category of the Odisha State U-11 Chess Championships at Puri, Friday. Similarly 10 players are sharing the lead with two points apiece in the girls’ category.
