New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: For the first time, one of the Odisha’s separated conjoined twins, Jaga stepped out after the successful cranial separation surgery at AIIMS New Delhi and took a walk along with his mother around the India Gate Thursday here.
A picture of Jaga visiting India Gate with his parents has gone viral on social media. He is seen walking holding his mother’s hand. Meanwhile, Jaga’s twin brother Kalia is also recovering fast at AIIMS.
He has been taking food like a normal child through his mouth and the process of giving semi-liquid food through a feeding tube up his nose has stopped.
While the discharge of the twin brothers, Jaga and Kalia from the AIIMS, New Delhi is yet to be ascertained, the news of Jaga enjoying the day with his mother at India Gate has brought some respite for his well-wishers.
It may be mentioned here that both Jaga and Kalia are undergoing treatment at country’s premier medical institution in the national capital following their successful cranial-separation surgery.
Recently, in a report to the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), the AIIMS said that Jaga and Kalia are clinically fit for discharge from the hospital. However, the discharge date is yet to be finalised.
The caniopagus twins of Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of 20 surgeons after a 21-hour-long surgery in October last year. The surgery has created a new chapter in Indian medical science.
