Servitor ‘helped’ Saha climb chariot

Puri, July 12: A Srimandir servitor had reportedly assisted NRI engineer Dipesh Hansmukhlal Saha in climbing the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra when it was parked near Srigundicha temple early July 8.
The servitor travelled to Naren Palace hotel in the city here on his bike at 3.09 am July 8 to pick up Saha, sources said. A CCTV installed at a residence near the hotel had captured footage in this regard.
A watchman of the hotel opened the gate after the servitor called someone over his mobile, according to sources. Saha came out of his room and left with the servitor.
Saha had climbed the Taladhwaja chariot and paid obeisance to Lord Balabhadra at 3.35 am July 8. Personnel of Jagannath Temple Police Service (JTPS) had spotted Saha when he was about to climb the Nandighosha Chariot of Lord Jagannath, sources said. Kumbharpada police had arrested Saha July 10 after registering case on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration.
Saha had paid at least `1 lakh to the servitor for helping him climb the chariot, sources said.
