BHUBANESWAR: TIE Bhubaneswar and eChai Bhubaneswar Chapter organised a session on ‘Collaborative Growth: The Permaculture Way’ at BOCCA Cafe, Master Canteen, here Monday.
The session was graced by speakers like Rakesh, an expert on Permaculture from London and Dario, an expert in the same field from Italy. Permaculture is understood as an approach to designing human settlements and agricultural systems that mimic the relationships found in natural ecological systems.
It is a philosophy of working with nature, rather than against nature. It is not only about agriculture, it is also about the choices we make every day. It is a holistic view of our life based on 3 main ethics – Earth Care, People Care and Fair Share, which permits us to design systems and eco-systems in order to regenerate the soil and the soul in the way the nature does.
The word permaculture originates from permanent agriculture. However, with time, the meaning and role has changed to permanent culture to indicate that it is not only about growing food but also about growing people as more conscious human beings as part of the nature.
It helps in creating abundance in economical and social perspective and it gives us a better opportunity to find solutions in order to create change for a better future by collaborating with nature instead of competing with it. It will be idle to include permaculture in public education system.
