Koraput/Narayanpatna, Feb 5: Seven persons including four members of a family were killed in two separate road mishaps in Koraput district, police said Thursday.
In the first incident, three men died as the bike they were on skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Kumbhariput village in Bandhugao block late Wednesday night. They were returning to their village, Chekapadu, after attending an engagement ceremony in Kumbhariput.
Some BSF jawans spotted the bodies of the three men while carrying out a combing operation in the area Thursday morning. They informed the local police following which cops sent the bodies for post-mortem. The deceased were Mandingi Ramana, Mandingi Rajeya and Kadraka Ramarao of Chekapadu village.
In the second incident, four members of a family including two children were killed after their bike had a head-on collision with a truck on National Highway 26 near Mohanpada Thursday afternoon. Two of them died on the spot while the other two succumbed to their injuries later. Local police rushed to the spot and detained the truck. By then, the truck driver had fled the spot. There were hints they were natives of Karidiguda village in Damanjodi.
