Malkangiri: Police Saturday arrested an Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) official for sexually harassing a girl of MV-38 under Orkel police limits in this district.
The accused was identified as Rakesh Pradhan, a project manager of ITDA.
According to reports, Rakesh had developed an affair with Rinarani Sarkar (name changed) of the village about five years back. He lured the girl to have physical relationship with him on the promise of marriage. Later, the girl became pregnant following which Rakesh terminated her pregnancy.
He continued to maintain physical relation with the girl but avoided the marriage plan. Realising that she was taken for a ride, the girl lodged a complaint with the police Friday.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case. The accused was produced in a court and the victim was sent for medical examination, said Malkangiri IIC Soumendra Shekhar Tripathy.
