Bhubaneswar, April 9: Summer is cruel. Let the soothing rains come and director Sabyasachi Mohapatra will don his directorial hat to make the final film of the ‘Sala Budha’ trilogy. The shooting will begin in the month of September this year, the auteur said.
Mohapatra, who recently won a national award for his film Adim Bichar shared the story line of his next film during a recent felicitation ceremony held at Ekamra Haat by Orissa Cine Critics’ Association (OCCA).
“I am going to make a sequel of Sala Budha, which is Sala Budha ra Badla after summer. It is not possible to make during the prevailing scorching heat, therefore, let rain come, we will start,” said Mohapatra.
“It will include the same characters as the two previous films. The film will be made in dual language. The main character, Atal Bihari Panda, will be there along with other new characters. It will highlight the same issues, which were shown in the last two films. I have tried to depict the cruelty of the society. It will show how an 84-year-old man takes revenge in the end,” said Mohapatra.
The final movie of the trilogy will be based on a story written by Kapeleswar Mohapatra, Sabyasachi’s father. The director, however, chose to keep a veil of secrecy over his next venture to retain suspense around the new project, so that the audience can enjoy watching the film when it releases. Shooting for the upcoming film will begin this September.
However, Orissa Cine Critics’ Association organised a small meet where Sabyasachi was felicitated with photo frame of Lord Jagannath as a token of respect.
“It is a great privilege to have an eminent icon among us. His hard work has turned him into a history maker. … I wish him all the best for the next film. We wish that his film ‘Sala Budha ra Badla’ will also get popular like last two,” said Pradosh Patnaik, president OCCA while addressing the gathering on the occasion of felicitation of the director.
Adim Bichar, the second movies of the trilogy, was adjudged the best Oriya film in the 62nd National Film Award 2014 in regional category. The award will be conferred on May 3, 2015 at New Delhi. The last Oriya film to have won a Nation Film Award was Jianta Bhuta directed by Prasant Nanda in the year 2008. The film was adjudged best film on environment and conservation.
