Bhubaneswar, June 4:With Raja, the festival that celebrates the spirit of womanhood, just a few days away, young women in the state capital are thronging garments shops and those selling attractive jewellery and other accessories. Women of all age groups are picking up trendy and embellished embroidered saris, kurtis, tops, jeans and other attires from wellstacked shop shelves and cotton and silk are the pick of the season. Jumpsuits and palazzos seem to have caught the fancy of teenagers. With the mercury still soaring in the state capital, the demand for light and summer-friendly attires is rising. “I am looking for light fabrics like organza and satin silk for Raja. I have purchased bright kurtis for the festival,” said Sonamika Ray, a college student. I have to gift clothes to my relatives too.” Meanwhile, ahead of the festival top garment stores in the city are offering lucrative discount to woo customers, with some offering gifts on purchase. In addition, stores are also organising lucky draw contests and doling out bumper gifts.
