Showing solidarity: Death of CRPF personnel mourned across state

BHUBANESWAR: In the wake of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu ever, the whole nation has plunged into a state of grief. According to latest reports, 45 of our brave CRPF troopers have been martyred in the ghastly attack on a CRPF convoy at Pulwama district, Jammu Thursday. City folks have showed solidarity with families of those killed in multiple events organised as a tribute to the brave hearts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated recently that the Indian Army has been authorised to exercise a free hand to plan out action against terror groups based in Pakistan. The slogan ‘Saheed Jawan Amar Rahe’ resonated across the state Thursday. Multiple schools from the temple and silver city paid massive tributes to the martyred in the form of prayers and candle light march.

Members of Jagannath Sena in Puri paid tribute to the departed souls by lighting a lamp at the 12th century shrine Srimandir. They also held placards portraying messages like ‘We want answers for the sacrificed’, ‘Proud of Jawans’ and ‘Terror will not be tolerated’ among others. Students of BJEM School paid floral tribute to the troopers on their campus Friday.

A pall of gloom descended on the entire state when the news of two Odia troopers being martyred was broken. The state waits to pay tributes to the mortal remains of Parshana Kumar Sahu and Manoj Behera. Many people from the state shared their anger on social media criticising the government for its failure in tackling terror. Many even slammed the Centre for using the armed forces to fulfill party needs.

Hrushikesh Mohanty wrote on social media, “The worst part of Pulwama attack is that there will be politics over the martyred bodies. It will be an ‘issue’ in the run-up to the elections. They will be treated just as mere show pieces for their political audiences. They will end up as pawns in this game of political vulturism.  If you can’t even mourn with sensitivity, there is something very wrong with you. This is not the time for your vendetta politics.”

Sweta Mishra said, “It isn’t the first time that some incident like this had happened. The question that crops up is: Why does India face such attacks regularly?  It’s not about how we tackle or survive the aftermath
for the Indian Army never gives up till the tricolour drapes them to death. Constant attacks by Pakistan-based terror groups show that it is the right time to teach them a lesson in terms of direct war.”

Police constable Sagar Kumar said, “It’s very sad news for us and for all defense personnel. I recommend the government to grant us permission to stop terrorism at all costs. Sophisticated weapons must be provided to our jawans.”

Col P K Sahu said, “The incident showcases a huge security lapse. Whenever army vehicles pass an area, there should be a total restriction of vehicular movement. The government must not use the incident for political mileage and must respect the deceased army personnel. Despite tall claims of the government regarding surgical strike, we failed to avert the attack on our forces.”
