Malkangiri: In yet another case of a stain on the khaki uniform, an SI was suspended, an ASI was booked and two home guards were arrested for forcibly collecting money from a ganja trader.
The incident was reported from a place under Mudulipada police limits under Khairaput block In Malkangiri district.
As per the information available, Mudulipada sub-inspector (SI) Harischandra Golari, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Narayan Majhi and two home guards–Sitakanta Pattanayak and Sushant Behera—had detained a ganja trader’s vehicle in the night four days ago. They were allegedly demanding money from the trader to let the vehicle go.
However, the incident was somehow brought to the notice of higher authorities following which the actions were taken against the tainted cops Saturday.
While the SI has been suspended, a case has been booked against the ASI who is absconding. The arrested home guards will be produced in a local court Sunday, it was learnt.
