Siblings meet watery grave in Baripada

Baripada: The bodies of two girls of Chandua village under Kuliana police limits in Mayurbhanj district, who had gone missing since early morning Tuesday, were fished out from a pond later in the day. The deceased have been identified as Subhashree Besra (three) and Sukulmuni Besra (two). They are cousins. The incident has shocked the entire village.

According to villagers, the ill fated minor girls were playing near a farmland at the village. However they slipped into a deep pond at about 7.00am.

Family members grew apprehensive after they did not return home. Later, their bodies were found floating in the pond. They were immediately rushed to nearby hospital but the doctor declared them dead on arrival.

The bodies have been sent for autopsy. The cops have registered a case of unnatural death and a probe has been launched in connection with the incident.
