Siblings share joint top spot

Bhubaneswar, July 30: Rajesh Nayak and his younger brother Rakesh Kumar Nayak shared the top spot with seven points each after the completion of the eighth round of the Ist Macaulay All India Fide Rating Open Chess Championship here Saturday.
Sarbojit Paul is in second position with 6.5 points. He is closely followed by six players with six points each. Among them four players – Mohammad Ashraf, Hrusikesh Rath, Sanjeeban Nayak and Rajat Kumar Sahoo are from Orissa. The others are Sawyan Baran Dey from West Bengal and Chilukuri Sai Varshith from Telangana.
Rakesh forced Sarbojit to share points with him, while Rajesh prevailed over statemate Rabindra Kumar Ojha in their eighth round matches.
Manas emerges leader
Second seeed Manas Parida of Bhubaneswar emerged as the sole leader with 5.5 points after the completion of the sixth round of the IVth Umesh Chandra Mishra Memorial All Orissa Open Chess Championship here Saturday. He is closely followed by Prabhat Ojha, Prakash Sahoo and Brajakishore Moharana with five points each.
Selectors appointed
Gitanjali Panda and Kundan Murmu of Orissa Judo Association have been appointed as the selectors for the national judo selection camp at SAI Centre, Bhopal, August 3-5. Based on the performances in the camp, the national teams for the Xth Asian Cadet and 17th Asian Junior Judo Championships will be selected.
