Mayurbhanj/Balasore: Six persons were killed while five others sustained injuries in separate road mishaps in Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts, Monday.
As many as six persons lost their lives in separate road accidents in Balasore and Baripada today.
In the first incident, as many as five persons were killed while another sustained critical injuries in a series of road accidents near Dahikoti Chhak in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district.
While the identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, the injured have been rushed to a nearby hospital. Police have reached the spot and started an investigation into the accident.
In another mishap, one person was killed while four others sustained critical injuries after the SUV they were travelling in was hit by another vehicle near Salabani on National Highway-16 in Balasore.
The injured were immediately rescued and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
At least ten persons sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in overturned near Alada village of Bahanaga block in Balasore district.
According to sources, the mishap occurred while the vehicle carrying the passengers was en route to Balasore from Barajadeuli. The driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle turned turtle.
Ten passengers sustained critical injuries in the accident.
All the injured persons have been rescued and admitted to the nearby hospital, sources said.
