Anandapur: A youth bludgeoned his father to death with a wooden plank over a petty family dispute at Sapakanta village under Bansapal block in Keonjhar district Friday night.
The deceased was Bira Munda (47) and the accused has been identified as Basa Munda.
Police registered a case of murder and launched a probe. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem.
According to reports, the father-son duo broke out in a fight over some issue after Basa returned home in an inebriated state. Losing his cool, Basa took a wooden plank and hit Bira on his head.
Family members rescued him and admitted to the district hospital in Keonjhar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Two other similar cases were reported Thursday night. In the first incident, a man hammered his parents to death in Angul district after the duo intervened when he was assaulting his wife.
Similarly, a youth shot dead his father over a family dispute at Shrugipada village near Kundheigola in Deogarh district.
