Cuttack: An extra-marital affair took a tragic turn when a youth allegedly killed his mother’s paramour at Munda Basti of Talabania in Jagatpur police limits here.
The shocking incident took place late Wednesday night. Police nabbed the accused and recovered the body of the deceased, Umesh Bez.
“The police and a scientific team visited the spot and began a probe,” said ACP (zone 3) Trinath Mishra.
According to Mishra, Bez was living in a rented house at Najarpur in Jagatpur police limits along with his wife and son and working in a spice factory. The spice company was adjacent to Mundasahi where the accused’s mother, a widow, was living. The woman was staying alone and selling country liquor for her living while her son stayed in Mayurbhanj. Bez used to go there to drink liquor and developed an affair with the widow.
As Bez used to visit the woman’s house regularly, neighbours came to know about their affair. Meanwhile, the youth came home on the occasion of Rajo and protested Bez’s visit to their house.
The youth Wednesday night had gone to visit a place with his friends when Bez came to the house. On his return, the youth found his mother in a compromising situation with Bez and lost his temper. In a fit of rage, the youth pulled out the leg of a wooden bed in the room and attacked Bez leaving him critically injured.
On the other hand, the family members of Bez came searching for him and found him in a pool of blood in the house. They rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital where he was declared dead. Bez’s wife lodged a complaint and a case was registered.
SP Mishra said, “The youth was at the crime scene when the deceased’s family members reached there. He admitted to killing Bez and dared the family members to do whatever they can. The youth also confessed to the crime during interrogations. The widow’s statements were also recorded. We have recovered the wooden leg. Further investigation is on.”
