Bhubaneswar: A special squad of Commissionerate police arrested three chain snatchers from different areas of the city here Saturday. The accused were identified as Rajkishore Muduli , Rajkumar Thakuri and Soni Naik.
While Muduli hails from Siko village in Khurda district and was staying at the Canal road in Badagada area, Thakuri alias Nepu is from Nepal and was residing at Labanya Vihar in Ebrang area. Soni Naik is from Panchayat Sahi in Raikia of Kandhamal district.
Notably, during the past few days police had received a number of complaints about chain snatching.
Police formed a special team and with intelligence inputs they raided areas under the Capital, Airfield and Lingaraj police limits Saturday.
They recovered five gold chains weighing around 43 gram and a motorcycle from the trio.
Sources said the accused have also been involved in two more cases one each at the Capital and Khandagiri police stations while a case was also registered against them at the Lingaraj police station. Police sources said more operatives of the gang would soon be arrested.
