Bhubaneswar: As part of the efforts to facilitate easy travel for the thousands of pilgrims heading to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the Indian Railways launched special trains from various cities in Odisha Wednesday. These trains will provide enhanced connectivity to the holy city of Prayagraj, where the grand religious event is scheduled to begin January 13.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) has arranged for these services to run on key routes from Odisha to Prayagraj, ensuring that pilgrims have a hassle-free journey. The special trains will operate on three major routes: Bhubaneswar – Tundla – Bhubaneswar, Puri – Tundla – Puri, and Titilagarh – Tundla – Titilagarh, with stops at important stations along the way. The Bhubaneswar – Tundla – Bhubaneswar Special Train started from the Capital city at 12:30 pm January 1 and is scheduled to run on select dates, including January 8, 22, and February 5, 19, and 26. This train will travel via Kendujhargarh, Bokaro, and Gaya and will pass through Prayagraj Station, allowing pilgrims to board directly on their way to the Kumbh Mela. Similarly, the Puri – Tundla – Puri Special Train will depart at 12:30 pm January 6, 20, and February 17, while the Titilagarh – Tundla – Titilagarh Special Train will operate January 9, 16, and 23, and again February 6, 20, and 27. These trains are being operated with the specific purpose of easing the travel burden for pilgrims heading to the Mela, ensuring that they can reach their destination in comfort and safety.
