Bhubaneswar: Ensuring appropriate and speedy justice to the people remains a top priority of the Odisha government, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan said Saturday, stressing the need for effective management of civil cases and greater efficiency in the justice delivery system.
Addressing a one-day workshop on effective management of civil cases pending in district courts, organised for government pleaders, additional government pleaders, Harichandan underscored the crucial role of government lawyers in strengthening the justice delivery mechanism.
The Minister also highlighted the potential of Artificial Intelligence in expediting judicial processes. He said the proper use of AI, coupled with adherence to timelines, could significantly contribute to speedy delivery of justice in the present circumstances.
Justice Shashikanta Mishra, speaking on the occasion, discussed various aspects of civil and criminal cases and highlighted the responsibilities of government lawyers. He stressed the importance of evidence, cross-examination and oral arguments in effective case presentation.
Knowledge sharing among legal professionals would help resolve doubts and address challenges arising in different judicial matters, Justice Mishra said. Advocate General Pitambar Acharya, the keynote speaker, spoke on the role and responsibilities of government lawyers in courts and emphasised the need to handle civil cases in accordance with constitutional provisions.
