Puri: The photos of Srimandir’s interiors once again went viral on social media, exposing the poor security arrangements at the 12th century shrine.
According to reports, the photos of Satapahacha and other places of Srimandir were uploaded on the Facebook account of Megha Luthra, a Bangalore-based woman, October 3. The Facebook page claimed that Luthra is working as a cabin crew in a domestic airline.
It is worth mentioning here that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has banned the use of mobile phones and other electronic gadgets on Srimandir premises. It has put several signboards near the shrine to discourage devotees from carrying mobile phones into Srimandir. However, the initiative has not sufficed to check the use of mobile phones on the temple premises, sources claimed. In recent past, the photos of Srimandir’s interiors including the sanctum sanctorum went viral on social media several times.
Earlier, a Sub-Inspector of Puri Sea Beach Police Station was suspended for taking photos at Baishi Pahacha on Srimandir premises while offering Shraddha to ancestors and posting them on his Facebook account October 8.
2 more held for bandh violence
Singhadwar police Sunday arrested two more persons in connection with the vandalism during a bandh called by Sri Jagannath Sena, a self-styled outfit, to protest the introduction of the queue system at Srimandir October 3. The arrested Manmohan Sahu of Gopinathpur and Santosh Patra of Balisahi Barahi lane were sent to jail after a local court rejected their bail pleas. Police said the duo was involved in the ransacking of Srimandir information centre during the bandh.
