Puri/Bhubaneswar: A queue-based darshan system is set to be introduced at Srimandir within the next three to four months, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan has said.
A high-level meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar Monday to discuss the proposed queue-based darshan system for devotees.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Harichandan said the new system is expected to be operational within three to four months. During the meeting, technical experts from IIT-Bhubaneswar presented several models for implementing a streamlined queue system. After examining the proposals, discussions were held on identifying the most suitable model and determining how it could be implemented effectively.
Under the proposed system, devotees would be able to have darshan through five separate ramps, with the movement of visitors regulated from the Saat Pahacha (Seven Steps) area. The system is expected to enable around 8,000 to 10,000 devotees per hour to have darshan in an orderly manner.
A pilot model will be prepared shortly to assess the feasibility and operational effectiveness of the proposed system. The model will subsequently be examined by the Chhatisa Nijog and the SJTA before the broader plan is finalised and implemented.
