Bhubaneswar : The state leadership of the Congress party Saturday accused the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)-led state government of not paying attention in recruiting qualified youths from the state and taking more interest in funding HR recruitment agencies.
Speaking at a press conference, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) spokesman Satya Prakash Nayak said that 1.3 lakh government posts in the state have been lying vacant in the state as per government’s own admission but the state government is yet to take interest in filling them. Rather it is allegedly more concerned to pay and nurture the private recruitment agencies.
“A massive 1.3 lakh government posts in the state in different grades are lying vacant including many posts for government doctors but the BJD government is least interested to fill the vacancies. They are more into taking care of the HR consulting agencies and recruiting qualified professional on contract at lower wages while keep on paying more to such agencies,” he said.
The Congress leader questioned that while the Naveen Patnaik government is spending half of Rs 100 crore on volunteerism, it has failed to get the jobless youths employed. He said, “The government claims it does not have shortage of funds and it is on a spree to spend it on several schemes but it never cared to fill the posts with deserving qualified youths who are slowly losing their prospects, age limits and chances.”
Nayak alleged that there are several government posts in the states which are lying vacant for more than a decade but it has failed to attract the attention of government which is allegedly more interested in investing in private firms. Nayak citing assembly reports of the health department said that the government is attempting to help private nursing homes mushroom but fail to recruit their own degree-holding doctors.
“The Naveen government is helping the private nursing homes to mushroom while many local doctors passing with degrees every year are not recruited. There are around 3,000 vacancies of medical staff in the state,” he said.
