Bhubaneswar, March 11: To promote ancillary and downstream industries in engineering and automobile sector, the state is planning to develop automobile servicing clusters.“We are going for soft intervention as of now in which the department is conducting various seminars and workshops to educate entrepreneurs on these proposed cluster. We have also taken entrepreneurs to Chennai and Pune to study such automobile clusters,” Director (I/C), MSME Development Institute, PK Gupta said in an event here.
He also said that this cluster development in automobile sector is first of its kind under the MSME- Cluster Development Programme. “In future, we will identify land for the project and prepare a detailed project report,” he added. The official also informed that the total project cost should not be more than Rs 15 crore. While 90 per cent of the total project cost is borne by the central government and rest 10 per cent will come from stakeholders including the state government.
Gupta also said that the department is also planning to set up a common facilitation centre which will be highly mechanized in nature. “We are in the planning stage now for which 5 acre of land will soon be identified. DPR preparation for the common facilitation centre is another step which will be completed soon,” he said adding the project will come up in PPP (public-private partnership) mode.
