State roll ball team named for Guinness WR attempt

Bhubaneswar: Thirteen-members state roll ball skating team have been selected Sunday to take part in an attempt to create Guinness World Record Sunday, which will take place at Belgaon, Karnataka.

International Roll Ball Federation is going to attempt for Guinness World Record by allowing 400 players across the globe to play roll ball nonstop for 24 hours for four days. Players from schools, colleges, Universities are having once in a lifetime opportunity to perform and get individual Guinness World Record certificate.

Odisha Roll Ball Association (ORBA) felicitated the selected state players Sunday at the BDA-Madhusudan Park Skating Ground at Pokhariput here. City mayor Ananta Narayan Jena along with ORBA secretary Partha Sarathi Jena and other members of the board honoured the players.

“I believe this gesture will lift the moral and confidence of all our players and help them create history and break Guinness World Record, so that they can bring laurels to our state as well as the country,” Partha stated.

The sqaud: Eshaan Ray, Pratik Arnav Jena, Srujan Nayak, Amit Kumar Patra, Arindam Samal, Pritish Aryan Jena, Parmesh Mohanty, Byasdev Mohapatra, Subhankar P Khilar, Asim Anurag, Omkar Sarangi and Om Saswat Mahapatra.

Pramod shines

Pramod Bhagat of Orissa bagged two bronze medals in the recently-concluded IVth Turkish Para Badminton International Anes Cup in Turkey.

In the singles semifinal Pramod lost to Daisuki Fujhihar of Japan 12-21, 21-13, 15-21. In the SL 3-4 doubles Pramod and Manoj Sarkar pair lost to Japan duo of Siripon Timarom and Fujhihar 13-21, 21-19, 16-21.

Subhakanta selected

Odisha Ranji team physio Subhakanta Sahu has been selected for a two-day training camp for physios across the country, which will take place at National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, May 14-15. Subhakanta is the only level-I physio of the state.
