Bhubaneswar: The state government has sought Rs 677 crore from the Centre under Central Road Fund (CRF) for the 2016-17 fiscal to execute 19 road projects in the state, official sources said Monday.
The works department has requested the Union ministry of road transport and highways to approve road projects of 557 km length and sanction Rs 677.5 crore soon for their implementation. Of 19 projects, 14 are state highway (SH) projects while other five are major district roads (MDR), the source added.
The SH projects were proposed to be implemented in Nuapada (four projects), Kalahandi (three), Ganjam (two), Bolangir (one), Rayagada (three) and Sambalpur (one). Similarly, two proposed MDR projects would be implemented in Boudh while one project each would be executed in Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Kandhamal, said the sources.
The proposal of works department to Centre includes – development of Sinapali- Ghatipada and Dharmagarh-Sinapali roads in Nuapada, Dharmagarh-Sinapali and Ampani-Dharmagarh roads in Kalahandi, Khallikote- Boirani-Aska-Balipadar-Belguntha road in Ganjam, Bolangir-Kantabanji-Bangomunda-Chandutora road and Kamtalpeta- Kalyansinghpur road.
The other projects are construction of bridge over river Tel on Dharmagarh-Sinapali road, six bridges over local Nallahs on Kuchinda-Bamara road (Sambalpur), Koraput-Laxmipur- Rayagada- Gunupur road (Rayagada), Bhawanipatna- Gunupur- Kashipur- Rupkona road (Rayagada), Suakati-Dubuna road (Keonjhar), Purunakatak-Dhalpur road (Boudh), Boudh-Dhalpur road, Paniganda-Bamunigam-Daringibadi road (Kandhamal) and Bhojpur-Jamankira road (Sambalpur).
CRF, a non-lapsable fund, has been created out of cess imposed on petrol and high-speed diesel in accordance with Central Road Fund Act-2000. The fund has been created for development and maintenance of national highways, state roads and railway bridges.
