Bhubaneswar, August 7: In a bid to attract investors to the state, the state government is going to hold a Make in India conference here in the first week of December.
The conference would be organised with support from the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) under the Union ministry of commerce and industry, said officials.
Although a detailed programme framework is yet to be finalised, it is proposed that the summit would be organised next December 1 and 2, said sources.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi would convene a preliminary meeting in a few days to chalk out detailed programmes for the conference.
Meanwhile, the state government is also organising a one-day road show, Invest Orissa, in Bangalore August 26 to attract investors from fields such as IT, electronics and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM). Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the road show.
The state had participated in the Make in India Week organised in Mumbai between February 13 and 18 and received an overwhelming response.
The state had received investment commitments to the tune of `70,959 crore, of which around `30,000 crore are from the minerals sector while the rest from areas like food processing, electronics, textiles and renewable energy.
According to the Orissa Industrial Development Plan, the state government aims at attracting investments to the tune of Rs2.5 lakh crore by 2025 and generating employment for a million people.
