Bhubaneswar: Expressing dissatisfaction over poor maintenance of the Koida to Rajamunda section of National Highway-215, the state government Friday asked the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to either repair it or return the road to the state.
The government gave the instruction to NHAI officials during a meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi. Despite repeated requests, NHAI officials are yet to maintain the road properly. As a result motorists are facing problems on the road, said an official of the works department present at the meeting.
“When the road was with the state works department it was properly maintained. But, after NHAI took it over the condition of the road has deteriorated,” the official told Orissa POST.
During the meeting NHAI officials said they will complete the work by December-end. The NHAI has awarded three maintenance works on the NH stretch from Rimuli to Rajamunda. Of this two have been completed while the third one from Koida to Rajamunda is in progress.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the Biju Expressway project. The Sambalpur to Sohella section of the 638 km long expressway has been completed while the Rourkela to Sambalpur stretch is nearing completion.
