Cuttack: A private passenger bus caught fire Thursday morning here. The incident took place while the vehicle was parked at the Palamandap bus stand in Cuttack district.
Fortunately, no passengers were present in the bus when the vehicle was in flames. A team of Fire Department personnel hurried to the spot and controlled the fire.
However, the vehicle was completely charred till the flames were doused. While the Fire personnel have started an investigation, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
On the other hand, 2-3 buses parked near the ill-fated vehicle were partially damaged in the blaze.
The mishap triggered widespread panic among people present at and near the incident scene as several other buses were parked at the bus terminal when the fire broke out.
The owner of the bus was also informed about the mishap by the fire personnel.
