STF arrests cop for alleged links with drug mafia

Tehsildar arrested for misbehaving with female colleague

Balasore: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch Saturday arrested a havildar over his links with drug mafia Saturday.

It was learnt that with tacit support from police, brown sugar was being supplied from Balasore to Jaleswar, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Khurdha.

The havildar was identified as Ranjan Sahu of Balasore. He was suspended two days ago for his alleged links with drug trading kingpin Sk Raja.

A native of Sahadevkhuntha in Balasore, Raja was wanted by the STF in multiple cases under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. He was arrested by the STF in Bhubaneswar September 16.

During investigation, the STF checked CCTV footage in the area and found that the havildar used to frequent the house of Raja.

STF came to know that Sk Raj is an international drug mafia having connections with Goa, Rajsthan, Nepal.

His associates usually operate the drug smuggling at his instruction.
