Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police have been girding their loins to curb movement of some eunuchs who try to entice young motorists at night.
Several anti-social elements seeking carnal favours visit eunuchs who stand at road junctions in the city ready to satiate their appetites. In fact, it may be the same enticing eunuch who is providing crucial information to the police about miscreants.
“These eunuchs dress up in sarees, jeans and T-shirts. Khandagiri, Sahid Nagar, Chandrasekharpur, Rasulgarh and Bomikhal are the favourite hunting ground of the eunuchs who stand there dressed as girls to lure young men,” the sources said.
Sahid Nagar police, however, said eunuchs do not come to the road past midnight as police inspectors are constantly patrolling the roads.
“These eunuchs can be seen before 12am. They know when the patrolling vans roll on the streets and they come out of their dens accordingly,” a cop said.
Commuters often go near eunuchs mistaking them to be call girls, and occasionally land in trouble, he added.
Twin city police commissioner Yogesh Bahadur Khurania told Orissa POST they have adopted certain procedures to keep track of late night activities around Master Canteen.
Sources said there are cops who keep vigil over movement of eunuchs at Master Canteen area at night.
Sources also indicated that eunuchs also help local police by providing them crucial inputs about anti-social elements visiting them.
“There are cops who stand at Master Canteen at night to check movement of eunuchs. Due to police presence there, the eunuchs are moving to Sahid Nagar, Rasulgarh and Bomikhal these days. They are also going to Nakhara to lure more motorists,” they added.
