Pattamundai: A student allegedly ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Santasahi in Kendrapara district. The deceased has been identified as Ratikrushna Khuntia, son of a village-level worker (VLW), Malaya Khuntia.
While no exact reason of the act was ascertained, family members said the boy was depressed since the results for his Matric examinations that were announced a month ago. He might have took the extreme step and ended his life due to poor results, they said.
The family lives at a rented house in Gopei village where Malaya has been working as the VLW. The family went to bed after having their dinner Friday night.
When the family members woke up they found Ratikrushna hanging from the fan. After being alerted, a police team reached the spot and seized the body for post-mortem.
Later, a case of unnatural death was registered by police and a probe was launched.
