Chhatrapur: Ganjam District Collector here Tuesday ordered cancellation of student union elections in the colleges in Ganjam district in view of the impending cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ which is expected to hit the coast Wednesday.
Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange issued the orders after a review meeting with officials at the collectorate here Tuesday on their preparedness ahead of the cyclone.
Kulange also stressed the need to shift the residents to safety ahead of the calamity. Moreover, he cancelled the student union elections in the colleges scheduled for Thursday.
The Collector also cancelled the teachers’ training programmes scheduled for Wednesday and advised the school and college authorities to keep their premises open while ordering suspension of classes for the students Wednesday and Thursday. This apart, the Collector directed all officials to keep Aahaar centres open Wednesday and Thursday.
