Reamal, Feb 10: Students of Chingudijharan project upper primary school under this block in Deogarh district have to attend classes on the school’s verandah due to lack of classrooms.
Reports said, the school, set up in 1986, has seven classes from Class-I to VII and four teachers handle the classes. While 69 students took admission during 2014-15 academic session in these seven classes, there are only three class rooms to accommodate the students. Of the three classrooms, one is used as school’s office room. This has forced the school authorities to put up the students on the verandah for their classes.
It was learnt that though the construction of a new school building started during 2010-11 session under Sarva Sikhya Abhiyan, it is yet to see the light of the day due to financial
crisis. Though it has been about 30 years since the institution had been set up, it is plagued by several irregularities. The school doesn’t even have a
boundary wall.
Contacted, headmaster Damodar Pradhan said their frequent pleas with higher authorities to improve the school’s conditions have not yielded any results so far. Locals demanded immediate attention of the departmental authorities towards the inadequacies and necessary measures to address the problems.
