Students hailed as beacons of hope at Gradnite 2019

 BHUBANESWAR: Loyola School, Bhubaneswar celebrated the occasion of graduation of its standard X batch of 2018-19 here Saturday. It was a moment of pride for the parents and teachers. The programme started with a hymn seeking God’s blessings on the graduates.

School President Gourav Kumar Das then shared his experiences and also the role of school and teachers in moulding his life. Jitendra Kumar Mohanty , on behalf of the parents, shared how they had all brought their kids, who were tiny tots then, holding their hands to school but are now proud to see their kids mature as young adults.

This was followed by a speech by Principal Fr.Victor F.Misquith S.J. who emphasised that one should always try to change oneself rather than changing the world. The visual delight was the lighting of candles from the ceremonial lamp by the principal and class teachers and passing it on to the students symbolizing the fact that the light of knowledge should keep on burning and spreading to every nook and corner of the world.

   On the occasion, mementos and citations were given away to all 193 students. Principal’s awards were given to 20 students based on the criteria of significant achievement in academics, excellence in co-curriculuar activities, exemplary behavior and contribution to school. Special awards like Dr. Radhanath Mishra Memorial Trophy for academic excellence for the year 2018-19 were bagged by Anish Dash.       

Anagh Aditya received the Gyan Singh Kalsi Memorial Trophy for Academic excellence of the year, Shubham Parida received Dr. K.N.Kar Memorial Trophy for All round achievement (Boys), Sarjana Mohanty received the Aditya Prasad Mahanty Memorial Trophy for All round Achievement(Girls),  Sandeep Sahoo bagged Jyotsna Chayani Memorial Trophy for excellence in Odia. Gourav Kumar Das and Alish Das bagged the prestigious Patrick Brunton award for Mr. and Ms. Loyola respectively.

            The programme concluded with the student, parent and teachers’ prayer seeking God’s blessing on all the students appearing for ICSE and their bright future.
