Bhubaneswar: The Subhadra Yojana will mark its second anniversary Thursday, with Odisha government planning programmes across the state and encouraging women beneficiaries to light lamps at their homes as part of the celebrations.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said celebrations will be organised at 338 locations across Odisha. Rangoli programmes, competitions and other activities will be held to mark two years of the women’s welfare scheme, which was launched September 17, 2024.
As part of the celebrations, women beneficiaries and members of women-focused groups have been urged to participate in the ‘Aashirbad Ka Diya’ programme by lighting lamps during the evening of September 17. The initiative is being observed as part of the state’s month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
The government has also opened opportunities for new eligible women to join the scheme. Applications were invited through the Subhadra portal from April 1 to April 30, 2026, with women aged 21 to 60 years as of April 1 eligible to apply, subject to the scheme’s other conditions.
Parida said girls who have turned 21 and meet the eligibility criteria will be welcomed as new beneficiaries of the scheme.
