Cuttack, Nov 23: Sunshine Club and Chand Club registered similar 1-0 victories against their respective opponents in different matches of the FAO first division football League at the Barabati Stadium, here Monday.
In the first match, Sunshine Club edged past Kishore Club with the all-important goal being scored by Anand Samad in the 51st minute. In the second game it was the turn of karunakar Singh to get the winning goal for Chand Club against Young Utkal Club.
Tuesday’s matches: Radha Gobinda vs SBI (1pm); Sunrise Club vs Rising Star Club (3 pm)
Sagar, Nidhi triumph
Sagar Babu and Nidhi Chandra emerged champions in the men’s and the women’s category of the VIIIth All India Shuttle tournament here Sunday.
In the men’s final, Sagar defeated S Krishnan to take the top honours. Nidhi triumphed over Suruchi Yadav to clinch the title in the women’s segment. South Zone emerged men’s zonal champion, while West Zone clinched the women’s zonal title.
Goals galore
Orissa thrashed Uttarakhand by 23-0 in a match of the National Women’s School Games football tournament at Andaman, Monday. Suman Pragyan Mohapatra led the attack for Orissa with11 goals. Arati Sethy found the back of the net four times. Sanghamitra Mallick and Nikita Bisi struck thrice each, while Setapadma Sahu scored a brace.
