Malkangiri: Over a hundred Maoists who had left the movement and surrendered before the police have appeared for the entrance examination here for admission to degree courses offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
Sources said as many as 103 surrendered Maoists attended the final entrance test at the Central School in Malkangiri through the Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP) amidst tight security Thursday.
Passing the test, the candidates will be eligible for admission to various bachelor degree courses.
After surrender, the Maoists had been encouraged to prepare themselves in the past six months to write the exam. IGNOU regional director B Rajgopal monitored the examination. The surrendered Maoists can reappear for examination if any of them failed to qualify the test this time.
