Sajanagad: A long pending demand for a passenger train to Nilagiri in Balasore district has got green signal from the Railway Ministry due to the efforts of Union MSME Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi and MLA Sukant Nayak. Railway officials started a survey for the project from Dahanimara Thursday.
Rail connectivity is already available for 3 km from Nilagiri to Gopinathpur. This railway line is electrified. Earlier, the Railways used to transport stone, sand and metal to the area for a sleeper factory. Many ministers, MLAs and MPs had been demanding rail connectivity to the area, but nothing had been done.
Union Minister Pratap Sarangi pursued the matter with the Railway Ministry explaining the need for the project. He had proposed to build a station at Dahanimara.
