Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote cashless transactions, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) Wednesday introduced point of sale (POS) machine at the computerised reservation counter of Bhubaneswar railway station.
ECoR chief commercial manager Binayak Prasad Swain and financial advisor & chief accounts officer RS Mitra inaugurated the card swipe machine in the presence of Khurda Road divisional railway manager Debaraj Panda.
The move has enabled people to pay for tickets by swiping their credit or debit cards as they have been doing for purchases at shopping malls or merchant stores.
Over the next few days, the reservation counters at all major railway stations across the state will be equipped with POS machines.
This will help realise the goal of Centre’s cashless transaction plan.
