Damascus: Syria’s permanent representative to the United Nations Bashar Jaafari said that if the UN Security Council failed to adopt measures to stop the repeated Israeli aggression against Syria, Damascus could retaliate by attacking the Tel Aviv airport.
The statement comes after Israel delivered early on Monday total of three airstrikes on Iranian weapons storage facilities in Syria and several air defense units that responded to initial attacks by Israeli combat planes. At least four Syrian servicemen were killed and another six were wounded in the airstrikes.
“Isn’t it is the right time for this council to take the necessary measures to stop the repeated Israeli aggression against the territories of my country or should we attract the attention of the war makers in this council be exercising our legitimate right for self-defense and respond to the Israeli aggression against the Damascus International Airport by launching an aggression against Tel Aviv Airport?” Jaafari said speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry regularly sends letters to the UN secretary-general and security council asking them to take measures to stop Israeli aerial attacks on Syria.
